I decided to build this site in early 2009, because all I seem to do is research on what I need now and in the future. When I was first diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, the power in my legs started to deteriorate. I looked at this as positively and realistically as I could. I spoke to the doctors and asked for the real outlook, in terms of the level of deterioration. Then I had to decide which sticks to use, and after that which walking frame to use. The next step was the expensive decision which wheelchair to get. Based on the advice from my doctor I chose the chair in the photograph above. The additional features I selected included a power attachment for the front. For me this is the best of both worlds, a standard wheelchair which is light and can be used any place. Add the front power attachment and so far it's not let me down anywhere I have been. The point I am trying to make is that you can't get this experience without going through it yourself, but you can help others with your knowledge. Now don't get me wrong there are lots of organisations out there that will help, but in my opinion there are lots out there which see disability as an open cheque book. What I am going to do is make an A-Z index of all positive experiences from you the readers and what I have learned since 2005 myself. I am not saying I have got the answers but what we build on this site could be a good starting point for others in future. I have spent a lot of time and money talking to others and researching suitable equipment/facilities to meet my needs. The purpose of designing this web page is to help others access information more readily.
